Foster Families
Foster Care” is the provision of alternative family care for children and adolescents who are removed from the family, for reasons concerning their protection, and are taken under the legal care of the Director of Social Welfare Services. Every child has the right to grow up in an environment of love and acceptance. The institution of the foster family gives every child the opportunity for growing up in an environment of safety and stability. The duration of foster care may be a few days, months or even years.
The Social Welfare Services, being the competent authority, evaluate and approve the suitability of the parties interested for fostering children and provide all possible support and assistance both to the child and to the foster family.
During this process, the Social Welfare Services collaborate and subsidise two Non-Governmental Organizations: Hope of Children, CRC Policy Center and the Pancyprian Association of Foster Families "Love Nest" who provide part of the aforementioned services.
If you too can help, BECOME A FOSTER PARENT.
Further information on the institution of foster care can be found in the information pamphlet and at the District Welfare Office of your place of residence.
