Semi-Independent living

Semi-Independent living

The institution of semi-independent living has been introduced as an alternative option for minors aged 16 and over for independent living with support, depending on the individual needs of the minor, in accordance with the decision of the Council of Ministers, no.81.380 dated 28/09/2016. The main aim of the institution is the rehabilitation of children living in institutions (including unaccompanied minors), but also the direct inclusion of children who, for various reasons, cannot be rehabilitated in a foster family or in a child protection institution.

The semi-independent living programme operates in collaboration with the Social Welfare Services (SWS) and the Non-Governmental Organisations Pancyprian Family Adoption Association "Love Nest", the Hope for Children CRC Policy Center as well as the International Organisation for Migration in Cyprus.
